The Banksy Museum New York will host a rare interdisciplinary performance on Saturday, April 11, 2026, bringing together street artist Daniel “DAZ” Carello and the internationally acclaimed ETHEL String Quartet for a live improvised collaboration inside the museum’s galleries.
The event will feature two performances at 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM, where Carello and the musicians of ETHEL will create an entirely new artwork in real time. As the quartet performs, Carello will respond visually by painting and building a work live in the space. The musicians in turn will react to the evolving visual environment, forming a dynamic dialogue between sound and image.
Each performance will be entirely unique and unrepeatable, unfolding through instinct and improvisation.
Carello, @daniel_daz_carello on Instagram, known for his large-scale urban interventions and layered visual language rooted in street culture, approaches painting as a process of movement and momentum. ETHEL brings a similarly adventurous philosophy to music, redefining the possibilities of the string quartet through amplified instruments, genre-blurring composition, and collaborative experimentation.
Critics have widely praised the quartet’s inventive energy. The New York Times describes ETHEL as “extraordinarily skilled, passionate musicians,” while The Washington Post notes that “ETHEL’s distinction derives from a thoroughgoing virtuosity… In the hands of ETHEL, American music is alive and well.”
